As we age, we are less likely to offer complete answers to DCs because we are focused on where it hurts—not what is causing that body part to hurt. For instance, researchers in Sweden found that carpal tunnel starts in the shoulders, not the wrists. Old sports injuries from decades past may suddenly trigger pain now. Knowing about that injury helps you offer a higher level of care. Dr. Holzner teaches communication skills so that you can interact more effectively with your patients experiencing the cognitive decline of Alzheimer’s or dementia.
