Brief Course Description: This course outlines accessing resources, services, and support for older adults with Alzheimer’s in rural regions; there will be a brief review of rural aging sustainability, oral health safety, and care. A goal is to understand tele dentistry and the inclusion of caregivers in treatment planning. Dr. Holzner will share tips to recognize elder abuse, neglect, and understanding age-related conditions impacting oral healthcare as well as how to understand patient autonomy and cognitive changes of older adults. This course details Alzheimer’s patient co-morbidities and minimizing Alzheimer’s due to oral health decline.
